Meet Garfield — or at least that’s the name we found on his collar and it seemed to fit him perfectly! This beautiful and friendly Burton Valley cat spent this morning basking in the sun,  lazily watching the steady flow of people walking through broker’s tour for 521 Silverado Drive.

Human interest was particularly high for this completely remodeled Burton Valley traditional because it’s unusually large for Burton Valley – 5 bedrooms plus an office – and in A+ condition, a combination that’s hard to find within walking distance to Burton Valley Elementary.

Garfield made many of us smile until he decided to cross the street. Our radar was up but his wasn’t. It was as if he’d never learned to look both ways to avoid oncoming traffic. He sauntered, paused mid-street and surveyed the commotion as we hurried him along.

Most of us who travel in and out of Burton Valley know that Silverado can seem busy between Burton Drive and Merriewood Drive, particularly near drop off and pick up times at Burton Valley Elementary. It’s not heavy traffic by any city standard, but it’s enough that kids and pets learn early to look both ways before crossing.

There’s a reason, though, why Garfield apparently hasn’t. 521 is a totally different traffic world. 521 Silverado is three houses past the “No Outlet” sign at the corner of Silverado and Bradbury, the last street that intersects Silverado. This is blocks from the school traffic and even off the path of guests heading to events at Wildwood Acres in Hunsacker Canyon.

As far as Garfield knows, the whole world is just a handful of houses along the last few blocks before Silverado dead-ends into open space, the families that live in those homes, and the cars they drive.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to live in a no traffic world, too?
