Our Favorite Local August Treats

The sun is high, the temps are warm, and the lazy days of August are upon us. Just as winter weather makes us crave soul warming dishes and drinks, summertime has its own culinary rewards – think ice cream or a chilled glass of wine. I love the grilled peach bruschetta at Metro. I also love the iced coconut orange latte at Coffee Shop Lafayette. And, to end a perfect summer day, a glass of Frank Family Chardonnay at Postino; I can’t wait for this Lafayette staple to re-open.

I’ve gathered our team together to quiz them about their favorite warm weather treats and where to find them. Here are our best-loved local indulgences, enjoy!

My family and I love Loard’s ice-cream in Orinda and Moraga. We would go every day if we could.  Jill Montaquila

Pool Boy Rosé is the perfect beverage to enjoy poolside at Moraga Country Club or during the Moraga Commons Summer Concerts. The fun label and the name always stir interest. Allison Biner O’Brien

I love a glass of Rosé enjoyed al fresco on Metro’s lovely patio; and I adore Loard’s Mocha Chip ice-cream. But not at the same time!  Lauren Woolsey

For me, it’s margaritas, chips, and guacamole on the patio at Rancho Cantina. Kelly Wood

My favorite summer treat is to sit around the fire pit at Postino while enjoying the burrata appetizer with a chilled glass of white wine. My kids’ favorite summer treat is the skillet baked brownie at the Lafayette Park Hotel Bistro. Emily Forschler

A cold Pilsner on tap with garlic parmesan fries on the patio of Batch & Brine does it for me every time. Wendy Means

Plaza Park, just outside Sideboard, is the perfect spot to enjoy a bucket of their fried chicken. And the restaurant provides a wagon of toys to keep the kids entertained. Sarah Kellar

The signature tart-flavor frozen soft serve yogurt at Yogurt Shack is my hot weather go-to. Add a few roasted almonds and some hot fudge and…yum. Jen Ries

Have you tried Peet’s Mocha Javiva? Baridi Cold Brew and Peet’s house made chocolate sauce are blended with milk and ice and topped with whipped cream. My new favorite.  Ann Marie Quinn

I’m looking forward to checking out Canyon Club Brewery in Moraga. It just opened and is Lamorinda’s first and only brewery. Todd Green
