I am always looking for local moving service options to recommend to clients so I was interested to read USA Today’s article about Ghostruck.com initiating service in San Francisco and Oakland, starting September 1, 2015.

Considered by some to be the Uber of moving services, Ghostruck.com offers help with moving items from one location to another, moving items within a location (e.g. from a home’s living room to garage), and disposing of items. Read more about how the Ghostruck.com service works by clicking here.

Ghostruck.com has confirmed for us that their new Bay Area service area includes Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda, as well as other cities within a 30-miles radius of San Francisco.

Already, I can think of many reasons our Lamorinda home selling clients might consider using Ghostruck.com, including moving heavy furniture to the garage, storage or donation center before our Dana Green Team stagers and delivery van of home staging furniture and accessories arrive.

Just a heads up: Ghostruck.com also confirmed that their service isn’t really designed for the large-scale house moves we experience in Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda because users are required to upload photos of all the items being moved before being matched with a provider. Yes – all items, including photos of packed boxes. These can be simple photos taken with your cell phone.

Ghostruck.com says regular apartment-sized moves (or smaller) within the service area typically work – like the furniture and boxed kitchen items you’re using to outfit your child’s first San Francisco apartment or the office furniture you’re moving from work to your home office.

These are early days for Ghostruck.com’s San Francisco Bay Area service but I’m hopeful that it will blossom into a useful moving service for all homeowners in our community.
