Tired of Waiting, People are Starting to Act

I read with interest last Friday’s (May 6, 2011) edition of Lafayette City Manager Steve Falk’s weekly email update. In it Steve listed some early indicators of a shift to large home construction projects in town – 5 projects that would result in homes varying from 5,500 sq. ft homes to 9,900 sq. ft. in size.

“Is the trend shifting away from minor additions and remodels?” Steve wrote.

Here is what I know about our current local real estate market trends: People are tired of waiting.  They’re tired of waiting to sell. Tired of waiting to buy. And, tired of waiting to upgrade or downgrade to what they feel they need for their growing family and/or changing lifestyle.

People are starting to act: They’re listing their homes. They’re making offers. And they’re moving on with their lives! This energy is strengthening our local real estate and remodeling market and encouraging those on the sidelines to act now.

Congratulations to everyone who is jumping off the fence and putting their best foot forward!
