Night at Lafayette’s Library

Those who believe libraries to be relics of the past have likely never set foot in the Lafayette Library and Learning Center (LLLC.) This communal gathering spot and treasured community resource is so much more than just a place to check-out books. Offering educational and entertaining programs for everyone, the LLLC enables children, adults, families, and seniors to tap into a wealth of materials, workshops, exhibits, lectures, films, and hands-on discovery.

When introducing my clients to Lafayette, I always make a point of showcasing the library, as I truly feel that it’s one of the best aspects of living here. In this one central place, you can meet bestselling authors, learn about upcoming Bay Area museum exhibits, hold a hedgehog, and look at the stars through a powerful telescope. You can also purchase barely used books for a fraction of their original price at the the Friends of the Lafayette Library Book Shop. And, you can frolic amongst the book stacks after dark at the Library Foundation’s annual fundraising event, Night at the Library, held this year on March 4. Purchase a ticket to this fun event, and you’ll help to transform the library’s existing computer station space into a more flexible, multi-purpose room that will offer STEAM programs for learners of all ages (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).

I’m a Night at the Library sponsor, and I’d love for you to join me there. Enjoy good food and drink, music, and an auction featuring items like Warriors tickets. You can purchase tickets at tinyurl.com/NATL2017. It’s a great event and the perfect way to engage in your community. Can’t attend, but interested in checking out the auction items? Bid online by registering at LLLCF2017.ggo.mobi. Hope to see you there!
