Check Out This Little Free Library in the Lafayette Valley Estates Neighborhood

Perched on the edge of a well-manicured lawn on Lafayette’s Florence Drive (where it intersects North Lucille Lane) sits something worth smiling about – a Little Free Library.

Little Free Library - Lafayette Valley Estates

I stopped by on my way home from Tuesday’s Broker’s Tour of our new listing just a few blocks away, at 3341 Betty Lane.

Selection no doubt varies. Tuesday there seemed to be something for almost anyone, regardless of age, including a children’s book of poetry. Just scanning the titles was fun!

This one-door, two-shelf “take a book, return a book” mini-library is part of a neighbor-to-neighbor book sharing movement that is now international. The Florence Drive branch is one of two official Little Free Libraries in Lafayette you’ll find listed on the www.littlefreelibrary.org website. The other is located at the Lafayette Community Garden on Mt. Diablo.

There are many reasons to love living in Lafayette Valley Estates, a cluster of streets that some call the “Ladies’ Streets” because of its street names – Lucille, Florence, Betty, Helen, Mildred, Fredericka.

A big reason to love living here is the close proximity to some of Lafayette’s best family lifestyle amenities, including the Lafayette-Moraga Trail, Lafayette Community Center, Lafayette Community Park, and the easy access to local schools, ball fields, and local pools.

The Little Free Library may not be the number one reason to move into Lafayette Valley Estates, but it represents something really important families who move here discover. Short on shelf space, the Florence Drive Little Free Library is long on old-fashioned neighborly friendliness. Lafayette Valley Estates at its best. Again.
